The Elevate-KHS Pro Cycling Team has completed the 3rd stage of the Tour of The Gila – the 16.5 mile Dan Potts Memorial Time Trial. With two days remaining in the stage race, we checked in with Connor Brown who has experienced great success so far this season with the team, winning both the overalls at Chico Stage Race and San Dimas Stage Race.
Elevate-KHS: At over 16 miles, the time trial today was the longest of the season so far. How did you feel today?
Connor Brown: I am on the tail end of cold so a little bit tired, but I know I still have to go out and perform my best on the day. Some days it just doesn’t come together, but I am happy with the effort that I made.
Elevate-KHS: Living in Kansas and going to school in Missouri, how are feeling with the altitude in Silver City?
CB: The altitude itself isn’t that bad, but compounded with my chest congestion, it makes things a little difficult especially when I am digging deep.
Elevate-KHS: How are you feeling with the stage race thus far?
CB: We have two days left and the most important day is the last day, the Gila Monster Road Race. We really just need to keep looking for opportunities and see where we can put ourselves in solid moves. We are really looking forward to the Saturday Criterium since Alfredo is an excellent sprinter. We have plenty of opportunities left on the table in the final stages, so that will be exciting.
Elevate-KHS: Partner Ryders Eyewear sent a special delivery to the team at Gila with new sunglasses. What do you think?
CB: We have the FYRE from Ryders Eyewear, and I really like the Aero Orange ! They are really comfortable and fit well along with the AntiFog which eliminates many issues associated with condensation on the lenses. Everyone on the team was fighting for the Aero, so I think those are the favorites!
Thank you Connor for checking in and good luck at tomorrow’s criterium!
