What is your first cycling memory?
The first cycling memory would have to be me learning to ride a bike for the first time. Technically, it was a mountain bike that was probably way too big for me. My dad took me out to the front lawn at our little house in Bear Valley. At the time I was about 4 years old when my dad taught me to ride a bike. We rode around together with him on the back of the bike for a few short loops, then he snuck off the back of the bike and let me go solo. I continued on talking to him and riding for a good minute until I rode back around and saw him standing there watching. I freaked out for a second but then settled in and rode it out, eventually coming to a stop. This was my first successful ride in the books.
What is your favorite post ride/race meal or food?
Pasta is always a good one. Carbs are a great thing after a big ride and they really revive you. Spaghetti with meat balls is a classic one and really hard to beat, Chicken Piccata is good too but some times a slice of pizza is a great thing as well.
What was your favorite cartoon as a kid? Why?
I have memories of watching all kinds of cartoons, new age cartoons and classics alike. If I had to pick one, I would say that I really liked The Wind And The Willows, for some reason Mr.Toads Wild Ride got me really excited when he would start roaring around in his motor car. It sounds super dorky But my mom said that it was a really exciting thing for me. I would watch the cartoon and run around the house. Apparently this happened enough that I got dubbed the nick name Mr. Toad. But I do enjoy other classics Like Tom and Jerry, Scooby Doo and the Flintstones.
Which race are you looking forward to the most in the 2017 season and why?
I really like all the Stage Races like Redlands and Cascade. They have a good mix of challenges over multiple days. I am looking forward to any and all of the stages races we have on our calendar for 2017 season.
While traveling across United States and around the world, what is the most interesting place you have had to spend the night?
I really like traveling and seeing all the different people and placing the world has to offer. The 2017 Elevate KHS team will really have a great schedule for us to follow. In years past I have enjoyed places such as Bend Oregon, Saint Paul Minnesota, Tulsa Oklahoma, Louisville Kentuckey and even great places in my own state of California. If I had to pick a favorite place I really enjoyed the city of Tulsa Oklahoma. The racing was great, the people were so inviting and the city was very unique with lots of old architecture and sites to see.
